High CPU useage

  knobler 21:22 29 Nov 03

when I get on to the web my CPU useage shoots up to 100% - Is this right? - It's never been like it before. I defragmented the disk this morning etc using Norton and I've just noticed that it's very slow on the web and registers 100% useage on Norton System Doctor - any ideas??

Download and run Ad-aware click here and Spybot click here

I assume that you have up to date anti-virus - idf not get some free click here

By the way, this is what adware is click here

you can download Spybot search and destroy from click here , install update then run it letting it fix red items, this will clear out spyware diallers and several other types of parasite that could account for a slowdown when online.

Also run MSCONFIG, start up items, and see if anything has loaded and running when booting up.

I have Norton internet security, antivirus etc.

Is this the same - If not what am I putting on to my system?

Ad-aware and Spybot check for and allow you to remove spyware/ adware/ parasites. These (the adware etc) can seriously slow you down which is why we've suggested those programs.

Run the programs as people have suggested, they can give your PC a new life.

It also keeps system security up to a high level.

Antiviruses dont detect small spyware becuase it is classed as TOO SMALL...

But they are a pain, as others have said may slow your PC down.
