I use Windows XP Professional. When I go to log on it shows ADMINISTRATOR and the myself with Administrator under it and Guest. Is there a way to hide the built in administrator so when I log on it only show me and guest on the user list. Thank you for your help.

I havent used XP Pro, so I might be wrong, but I'd doubt theres a way to get rid of the word "administrator" if thats the way the default log-in screen was made to look. The only solution would be in installing a program that allows you to change the look of the log-in screen completely (different background etc). The only free one Ive tried out for XP that works with SP3 is logonstudio

There are loads of 'skins' you can download for it, although most are heavily themed and far from basic, most will not display the "administrator" name! I hope this helps:-

BAck up registry BEFORE trying this.

Start - Run - type regedit -press OK

Navigate to

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserList

Under this key you simply create a new DWORD value – the name matches the users name exactly, and the value is one of the following (Decimal format)

0 – Hides the user just from the welcome screen
1 – The user is shown
