my Sony vgn laptop has a hidden partition containing the operating software.

Does anyone know how I access it to read whats on there & then run the install procedures please?

They will all be cab files and you will need the sony restore disc

thanks for that, but I do not have restore disks. The software is on the hidden partition on the hard drive, I can see it is an EISA configuration from the systems management utility, but I can't access it.

Sony makes you create your own recovery discs.

Partition #1 is about 5.5GB and contains all of the Sony recovery software. Partition #2 houses the default XP Home installation and uses up the rest of the drive. Initial startups prompt the user to create the restore media in case the OS goes south. Creating the restore discs requires either 2 DVDs and 1 CD or 11CDs.
