HID Input device not loading at startup

I keep getting an error message in the system pane of the event viewer saying The HID Input Service service terminated with the following error: The system cannot find the file specified. This appears as event ID 7023 and I have noticed my wireless keyboard and mouse aren't working at startup and I have to disconnect the transmitter box and reconnect it and press the button on the transmitter and on both the keyboard and mouse in order for it to work. Any ideas? I have windows xp home sp2 and a packard bell i design 170+ with a packard bell wireless keyboard and mouse.

check your services, that "HID Input Service" and "Plug and Play" are set to Automatic.Know as Human Interface Device Access Services on winxp/sp2.
