HIbernate windows or shut off windows ?

I always hibernate instead of shutting of windows. Is that OK because windows take a long time to rejuvenate otherwise. Am I shortening the life of my HDD by doing that?

Unlikely. Hibernate saves all the settings, open programs etc at the point of hibernating and then resumes at that point when you power up again.
