Help with Wireless

I have recently put together a wireless internet in my home, which consists of a desktop and 2 laptops. i have a belkin adsl modem/router, which i connected to my desktop following the given instructions. I was beginning the process of setting up my wireless network. I turned on my laptop, to prepare for setting it up, when all of a sudden it said 'wireless connection found' and began working. This is all fine and dandy, and works perfectly, but i am a bit worried. When i check the wirless network, it states that i am on an unsecured wireless network. This means that anyone in range can access my internet, through a laptop with a wireless card. I was just wondering if it was simple to change to a secured wireless network, because i don't want people leeching.

Kind Regards, Eddy
