Help! WinXP Pro looping. Can't get into BIOS.

I have a friends PC which is running XP Pro. When switched on it boots up to the point before the Desktop and then re-boots.

Previous to this I was getting this message immediately after the disk drives were identified:

STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005,0x80576BB4,0xFB5CADE0,0x00000000)

The message said to check caching and shadowing on the BIOS but I can't get into the BIOS. When the system is booting up, it states:
Press DEL to enter SETUP

but pressing this does nothing. And now it just keeps re-booting in a cycle.

Anyone know which key tp press to access Megatrends AMIBIOS set-up?

Hooray. It finally booted intp XP Pro!

Now I don't have an XP Pro CD-ROM but since this is a recurring problem with her PC what can I do? I would have liked to do a 'repair' of sorts...

Can I use an XP Home CD?

When I right click on any file/folder, the system behave like it wants to re-boot but doesn't...

Can I use an XP Home CD? - No

Why not use your friends XP Pro CD.

Suggest as a first step you run a virus check with an up-to-date AV program.

I have closed this thread as I have another thread dealing with issues on the same PC (click here) although both had to do with separate issues.

This thread is now locked and can not be replied to.
