Help with Windows install.

Hello All,
I have recently got a new PC. So decided to fdisk -- format old PC so son could use from new install. Problem is .. fdisk / format went ok, just started with CDROM support. When @ command prompt I type in ...
E:\setup I get back....
"this program cannot be run in DOS mode"
Is this a driver issue? If so, How/Where do I fix problem ??
Thanks in advance... John

Try "setup.exe"....

It is to do with the files on the disk, not the drivers.

Sorry Matty..... got same message :-(

Have you formatted and installed Windows with this same disk before?

It's worth a try....

Type in:

Then when the formatting has completed type in:

Hi, are you using the std oem win98 boot floppy?, if not then download one from click here
its not a driver problem but i have seen this if attempting to run setup from the windows dos prompt ie start shutdown, restart in dos mode, but if you have fdisked then that shouldn't be the case, try another boot disk.

erm what O/S are you trying to install?

"this program cannot be run in DOS mode"

Sounds like you are trying to install XP.

If so, set the first boot device in the bios to cdrom. Put the xp disk in the drive and boot up. Follow the instructions.

Trying to put XP on .. :-(
