Help With Video Formats.

Recently I installed a [email protected] TV to PC card on my Windows 2000 unit with Service Pack 4. I recorded a one hour programme, on MPEG4, which came to 909,078 KB and showed itself as an AVI video. The "Capture Size" was 352 X 240 and the "Bit Rate (Kbps)" was 2000.

My newbie question is what format to use when I am recording. The choices I have are:

MPEG1
MPEG2
MPEG4
AVI
VCD(NTSC)
VCD(PAL)
DVD(NTSC)
DVD(PAL)
SVCD(NTSC)
SVCD(PAl)

Any help would be appreciated.

AVI uncompressed will give you the best quality but will take up alot of hard drive space,
So if you dont mind the file being huge go for that.

But MPEG 2 is what i normally use for videos.

Depends on what you are going to do with it if you are just going to put it straight to dvd then go for dvd. If you intend to edit then either mpeg2 or avi but not mpeg4. Avi isnt a format only a wrapper so is not always the best quality
