Hi,

I use to have this CASIO digital camera:

which has a 1/1.75 CCD.
Recently, Casio introduced a new camera:

which they say has a newly developed 1/2.3 CCD (same number of megapizels). I dont understand this! Surely 1/2.3 is a SMALLER CCD and therefore not as good as the older one?

Hmm, camera or not 2.3 is rather bigger than 1.75 !!

1/2.3 is a Ratio is it not. so 1/1.75 is smaller

eg 1 to 2.3......1 to 1.75

Details of digital camera sensor sizing can be found here click here

Thanks...
Natdoors article shows that the bigger sensor is the older one.

So it looks like the new one is not as good -
odd!
