Please How do I start the service named help and support. I am running Windows xp home edition

Should be listed in your start menu

If it is in the start menu but doesnt start,

Right click my computer select manage then select service and applications,then services scroll down the list on the right to you find help and Support highlight it right click it and select properties then select startup type as Automatic,click ok.Close the box and try again from start menu.

It is listed in the Start menu but this is what is telling me to styart the service named help and support.

Not quite sure what you mean, when you highlight and click on the link it should send you to another page where you can navigate to what ever you want by useing the search facility

Some things you can try:

Taskbar Properties>Start Menu>delete Help and Support>Apply.

Then repeat and this time Add Help and Support>Apply.

2) Try a repair installation of XP.

3) Start>Run. Type the following entries one at a time:

C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\HelpCtr -regserver

regsvr32 hhctrl.ocx

Type services.msc in the run box and press enter

services window comes up, scroll down to Help and support, right click, select proerties

In the startup tpye box change to automatic and apply (will start on next boot)

Below that click on start button to start help and suppert immediately.

That's why I suggested, amongst other things, a repair installation.
