I have a Sony Blu ray player that is able to connect to a home network so you can share photos etc.

I have my pc hard wired to the router, but the Sony is wireless connected to router.

Can you advise me if the PC needs to be wireless to communicate with the sony or does it communicate via the router.

I cant get my pc to recognise the sony, running Vista.

Thanks

Ian

If the player is intended to connect to a network, then it should connect to the router, as does the PC. Whether that is "wirelessly" or by ethernet cable shouldn't matter.

There will have to be some configuration though, so that it has an IP address in the same Subnet (IP address range) as the PC and Router. It may get its address automatically by DHCP, but if connecting "wirelessly", it will need any WEP/WPA/WPA2 encryption key to connect.
