Hello,
I am helping some one to set up a safe computed, well 'safe as far as possible
I have used 'skidzy ' 25 3 2007 list making due reference for his contribution.
I have chosen

antivirus 'avast
firewall 'zone alarm
anti spyware 'spywareblaster' to stop the spies
superantispy to get rid of any spies that get through

I would add
Auslogics for defragging and
CCleaner for cleaning up

Is this sufficient ?

I wish to express my gratitude to 'skidzy' for his contribution

thanks
gel

I would add this.
It changes color to warn you of bad Web Sites when you are Browsing.
It just adds a little Circle to your toolbar.

Thankyou for the feedback.
Its nice to see the thread is in use still. An updated thread click here there is a little debate over AVG free and lack of's...so Avast is the way to go at the moment.

If the machine in question is Vista,i would personally drop the firewall (ZA) and use the Vista inbuilt firewall....basic outbound protection but does self configures if used with a bit of savvy.
If children are likely to use the computer,by all means install the third party firewall.

Also consider adding another browser such as Firefox or my favourite at the moment Flock.

If any problems do arise, let us know as we have other tools to hand to help you out.

Good luck Gel

I would add Malwarebytes to your security click here
