Help with RAM

Hi folks,my computer has only got 256mb of ram and I think it's about time I got more as it's a bit slow sometimes.Can someone tell me how to use those programs that scan your computer to see what type of RAM you need please?Thanks.

I done the crucial scan and it's told me that I have installed 256mb DDR PC1300.Maximum memory 1024mb,availiable slots 1,number of banks,2 and that the cpu speed is 1636 MHZ however it said that it was unable to find any compatible RAM?Could anyone help me to get the correct RAM please?Thanks.

If you've tried Crucial you might also try these sites.
The last 2 are from the USA but may give you compatible RAM info.
