Surface Pro (2017) vs Surface Pro 4
It was OK when I closed it down2 days ago. Now when I press start - laptop makes some noise, light comes on.
Then I get a white screen with Pheonix across the page (this is the make of laptop) and at the bottom it gives me 2 options - 1. F2 - Get into Set up. and 2. F12 Boot device selection.
I have looked at F2 Setup but have not changed anything as I do not know what to change. I have also looked at F12 Boot device selection and tried the LAN option, the HDD option and the DVD option (this last one I did when I put the Driver disc in and nothing happened and also when I put the Windows disc in and still nothing happened.
If you do not press any option at all you get a
Black screen with Message stating there has been a problem with Microsoft. I am given options to re-start - Safe Mode, Last time when it worked OK, Start Windows Normally, etc.
I have tried to start it up in all these modes (one at a time) and each time it comes up "Windows" as usual across the screen in technicolour, then a green screen with white writing on and gets 1/3rd way down screen and then a full line of 000000000.
You do not have time to read this as it appears & disappears in a matter of a second.
The last time 2 days ago when it worked perfectly, nothing went wrong at all. I logged off & closed down as normal.
Your Clickhere does not work - my main computer just keeps trying to access but gets nowhere.
Finally got into your "clockhere" - but this does not help me at all.
I have put my XP disc into laptop and pressed F8 until it came up with opetions. Went to "boot" option and pressed yes, but to no avail.
Nothing new from my original statemnents happens. I cannot get into the XP disc.
Have tried again and now have been able to get it as far as "press any key" - but then after a few mins of downloading files from disc, it states "Set up did not find any hard disk drives installed - press F3 to quit"
have a look at the xp disc and c if there r any scratches to the disc itself, if there get a disc cleaner from maplin to clean the disc and try again. Also you may find using the quick installation of xp more convenient rather than the long installation.
the way what make is the computer and other details, you could try downloading a software eraser to erase the files on the computer and try reinstalling xp again. I have had to this when i had a problem with my laptop. look on pc advisor about erasing the hard-drive.
Thanks for all help but nothing seems to work. Have taken it to CloudfreeIT in Keighley and they are going to see if they can get it to boot or reinstall windows for me £20.00 or £25.00 whichever they have to do.
Just for info the make of the laptop is Pheonix bought from PC Specialist on web. Cost Over £1,000.
