Hello, My computer keeps freezing after only 3 or 4 minutes. It’s a mesh 3.2 processor, 2 GB ram, windows XP, SP3, GE-force 6800GT graphics. I have checked all the connection and inside the tower. No programs have been downloaded. It’s been getting worse lately and practically unusable now. This post has taken 4 attempts to post it. Any ideas what could be causing it?

Thanks very much.

Open Task Manager and see if any software is hogging the CPU.

What software is running - how many processes.

Overheating? Have you checked the heatsinks for cleanliness and the fans for function.

Have you tried running it in Safe Mode for a while to see if it still freezes?

FReeezing PC

  1. Overheat due to faulty / blocked fans

  2. PSU voltages

  3. Household power surges fridge etc switching on/off

  4. faulty memory stick try memtest http://www.memtest86.com/

  5. virus or spyware scan for both especially if shutting down with in a few minutes of switch on or internet use

  6. driver conflicts especially grahics cards get the latest drivers for your equipment
