HELP - PC can't detect modem!!

  southpaw 20:44 06 Dec 05

I'm trying to help a friend with her laptop.

Its a Pentium 2 and is running with Win 98.

It was running very slow so we reloaded windows 98 back on......

Anyway now the modem is not detected.

Its a Haicom 56k Fax/Modem PC Card.

I tried going into System, removed the modem, then refresh.

Windows then finds the modem and loads the drivers, restarts the laptop etc

Then when trying to connect to the internet it says it can't detect modem.

We don't have any software so don't know what to do?

Anyone able to help?

Try everest

It will ID the modem; then try the net for drivers.

After that, create a new dial up networking connection and see if it recognises the modem.

Any exclamation marks against modem in device manager?

Have you set the modem in Internet options?
