Hi my computer came with Windows XP Home SP2 installed, fully genuine and recently i bought a new hard drive because the original failed, and since my computer didnt come with its own Windows XP CD i was wondering if i could use my friends Windows XP Home sp2 OEM cd and put the cd key from the coa on the side of my computer into it. Will this work? Would i be able to activate it?

thanks

It should work but you may have to Phone Microsoft if it rejects it, And explain about the new harddrive.

Yes, it will work. You will have to activate the copy over the telephone line but it only takes 5 mins or so and you speak to a machine, not a human.
