While window updates was running on my sons PC,he was called away for a good while. On returning he discovered on boot up Windows IE9 was installed, and as a result the internet stopped working. How can he uninstall IE9 and go back to IE8? Regards Tonsie.
to uninstall Internet ExplorerThe following instructions apply to both Windows 7 and Windows Vista. 1.Click the Start button , type Programs and Features in the search box, and then click View installed updates in the left pane.
2.Under Uninstall an update, scroll down to the Microsoft Windows section.
3.Right-click Windows Internet Explorer 9, click Uninstall, and then, when prompted, click Yes.
4.Click one of the following: •Restart now (to finish the process of uninstalling Internet Explorer 9, and restore the previous version of Internet Explorer).
•Restart later (to wait until you shut down or restart your computer).
NoteAfter you uninstall Internet Explorer 9 Beta, the previously installed version of Internet Explorer will be available on your computer. It is not necessary to reinstall.
IE9 I think is still a beta version and you should not get that on Windows Update. Try Add-remove, Turn Windows features on or off. And make sure IE8 is ticked. I am using IE9 and trying that IE8 does not show so maybe it will not appear until you remove IE9. If using W/7 go to Internet Options.Advanced and press reset. That resets Internet explorer to its original state.
