Help to instal new DVD Drive

  stevie25b 10:21 04 Jul 04

I have just purchased a new DVD Rewriter drive and am trying to instal it. I am happy with connections, jumper settings etc, but I cannot work out how to remove the existing drive. It is fixed into place but I cannot see any screws to undo. I have a Mesh Computer, approx 12m old.

This Should be straightforward but is becoming very frustrating. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

It is probably fitted in with sliding runners. Look
on the front face of the original drive and see if
there is a tab (probably metal) at either side. If
so thgen push these two tabs inwards whilst gently
pulling the drive forwards. They use these sliders
now because it is quicker to assemble than using the
four side screws.

Thank you for your response - I was being stupid -I had got the side panel off the pc but hadnt got the front panel off. I was looking for screws to undo, but once the front panel was off it all became obvious. Thanks again.

The sliding runners I mentioned earlier are pretty much concealed when the drive is pushed into place.
