Help with image recovery please.

My friend has a Mesh pc runing windows xp that suddenly refused to boot.

He is more worried about his photos which he has not backed up to dvd and does not want to use his recovery cd in case he loses the lot.

It is a SATA drive and so I have plugged it into my pc and am running a program called Digital Image Recovery, which was recommended by another forum user in a previous post.

So far it has only read 70 sectors had 136 read errors and recovered no images and has been runing for 30 minutes

I am inclined to interpret this as a damaged drive.

Is there anything elso that could help me please.

Have you tried opening the drive in Explorer to see if you can copy & paste or Drag & drop to your hard drive and burn from there.

Both the recovery(G) and drive partition (local disk H) show up as seperate drives in explorer, but the H will not open, which is why I was attemtpting to run this recovery program, which has now read 157 sectors with 316 errors.

I am stumped at the mo!
