I have been given a Gateway ML3108b Laptop for Christmas.
It is loaded with Vista home basic which I intend to wipe and install XP pro instead.

At present their is only 512mb of ram in it. Can any one advise on the best ram I should be looking for to upgrade the machine to 2GB? remembering I shall be using xp pro and not vista...

An EBay dealer suggested I could only use 'Corsair Value Select 1024Mb DDR2 533MHz SODIMM Memory' is this right?

Also, is it possible to easily upgrade the processor for this machine?

Perhapse someone has a link to a service manual for this model - I have searched but cannot find one.

The laptop should have a 638 pin Sempron 3400+ running at 1.8Ghz. I doubt you will be able to change it.
