Help Finding Line In

  rawprawn 16:02 06 Sep 06

I want to tranfer tapes to CD. I have what I need (I think) except for finding the line in plug on my computer Dell dimension 4300. Does anyone know the colour code, or how I can trace which is which from the inside. I have plugged my stereo into all the plugs I have but no sound comes out of any, should I be doing something else?
Any help appreciated.

I have a Dell dimension 8300,the line in plug is the blue one on mine,I would expect it to be the same on yours.
Make sure that the line in mute box doesn't have a tick in it,under "control panel/sound and audio devices/Advanced".

Yes Blue is right, I am now recording and have tried saving it and playing it back (Thru Media Player) but it seems to be getting all jumled up, any ideas?

The mute box wasn't ticked, it was something in Audacity, but I'm not really sure what.

I have just downloaded a trial version of Polderbits, and I seem to be doing better I will see what the record sounds like when I play it back
