help-compatability of hard drive and system???

ok, guys i wanna knw how to check which motherboard and processor i have got, i bought it from "time" in 1998, so it is a bit acient, but would like to add new hard drive and a cd rewriter to it, the one below:

120Gb IBM/HGST Deskstar 7K250 ATA-100 (7200rpm 2MB Cache, 8.5ms) 2 yr


Model No: Deskstar 180GXP

so would it matter if i just added this to my current system:

o by the way i have a 128mb ram??

Until you find the mobo used,or the full title of the pc,eg,Time xyz....there is no way for checking if your pc could use 120Gb HDD.It might need a BIOS flash to cope with the large drive,it might not.

i don't mind go up to 60gb or 40gb eithier, as at the moment all i have is abt 10gb??

Chap here upgraded his HDD to 60Gb,didn't need a BIOS flash,so looks like you can go to your suggested size replacement.
