Help and advice about hard drives for a novice please. Which is better for using for video editing, EIDE or SCSI? Is the transfer rate of a SCSI hard drive better? I assume it also depends on which specification of EIDe the motherboard supports. If SCSI is the better type how does it connect to the motherboard? Thanks

SCSI is better as a general rule. However modern IDE drives such as the Western Digital SE 8Mb cache (J) drives acheive close to SCSI performance. Any current/recent motherboard will support UDMA 100 or UDMA 133 which the latest IDE drives use. To connect a SCSI drive, you'll need to buy a PCI SCSI interface card. To be honest, your best bet is to get one of the Western Digital Drives from click here (best price usually) as they are far cheaper (and nearly as good for all intents and purposes. For a review of the drive click here

Hope this helps ;)
