Do you have an nVidea graphics card, if so update to the latest driver.

Thanks I'll try that.

yes definitely a driver conflict problem.

after reloading the graphics drivers if that makes no difference then reload the sound drivers (do you have AC97 sound?)

Me again, my graphics card is: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT - what's the best way to go about updating the drivers for this?

Further I'm not sure what my sound drivers are. I believe my sound card is built into my ASUSTeK P5N-E SLI 1.XX mother board and using a Belarc advisor search on my system I can only see 'Realtek High Definition Audio' under a multimedia haeding. (I can not see AC97 Sound anywhere?)

Thanks for the help. I ended up downloading Driver Detective: click here. It found about 16 outdated divers on my new system. It took about 4 hours to update them all and there is a strange anomaly which is sending me round in circles regarding 2 of the outdated drivers. However, the good new is that (touch wood) the crash problem is less often if not totally solved.

I'll not mark this as resolved until I've give the system a few days working out.

Thanks again
Gemma x
