HELP Apache Server installed without permission

I have just clicked on a "normal" link on a website and got the message that the Apache Server was being installed.

Does anyone know how to remove this ?

Is its purpose to take over my PC or use it for other purposes ?

Any help gratefully received

click here for information on it. It should be in Add or Remove programs if it has been installed. Remove it from there

Thanks rawprawn, but can my PC be used by other people for illicit purposes ?

but don't worry unduly. I very much doubt that Apache has been installed without your active participation.

Run an anti-virus and spyware scan, and do as suggested by rawprawn.

I have just looked in control panel in add / remove programs, but it doesnt seem to be listed.

I am running a McAfee virus scan at the moment

As FE says, it is very doubtful that you could install this program inadvertently. I think you will be OK.
