sorry, what's your question?

What is that you wish to know? It is not clear from your thread.

Supports Pent 4 3.06 spent ages looking before trying PCA

Still not clear what you are asking.

Are you asking if this fan will cool a Pentium processor running at 3 ghz? Is that it?

Yes I have just re read, I have a Pent 4 478 board and the processor is a Pent 3.0 GHz. I wanted to know if the fan and heatsink were up to the job of keeping the processor cool.

They will do the job, but be noisy. Perhaps buy a Zalman cooler, both quieter and cooler running. I have a Zalman CNPS9500 running on an AMD Athlon 64 4000+, it is quiet and very efficient.

One of the pictures has the box on it, does it not say on the box what processor was provided?
The only reason I am suggesting this is I'm unsure if theres more than one fan for a Pentium 4 socket 478 processor and therefore am unsure as to how to identify it.

Hi thanks all sorry for the mix up.

Its ok Ex plorer you must be having an off day as your postings are usually quite clear.

Did having another look at the box help any? Sorry but I'm unsure as to how to identify the fan from the numbers you give, perhaps an email to Intel as they supply it.

As I bought this on eBay it was packed only in a press fit plastic container with no numbers on it but it was the only place I could find a new one.
I have found a reference to this fan that says it is ok for all pent 4s up to 3.06 GHz.
The big difference is that my old heatsink has a copper core whilst this one dose not, so I will keep a look out for a fan that fits my old heat sink.
In the mean time I will run a test with this new setup and keep an eye on the processor temperature.
Advice on what the temperature should be or shouldn’t be would be welcome.
