Probably a dumb question and not computer related but why are headphones handed. Being totally deaf in left ear and very limited hearing in the right what difference if any in wearing them as labelled?

Probably none in your situation but its to do with Left and Right Stereo channels and reproduction.

Only that the stereo image they produce will be the 'same way round' as the original.

It is so that you can imagine you are facing a stage. Left sounds - left ear, right sounds - right ear. In your case probably no difference.

When you listen to a sound, each ear hears a slightly different version of the original.

As you turn your head, or the sound source moves, your ears recognise the change and your brain interprets the results.

Recording tries to duplicate that.

Given your hearing situation, if at all possible it would be best to set your device to play sounds in mono. That way you would get exactly the same (complete) sound from both earpieces and so not be missing anything in your right ear.

Stand on your head when using them see if it changes them to other way round
