It would help you posted the complete error message, exactly as it appears.
Is HDREG the file that it is missing ?

run msconfig, check what loads at startup. Is there anything that shouldnt be there ? Remnants from a deleted program etc ?

Also check in the autoexec.bat and config.sys files (if you have them), and check that the files stated exist in the paths stated

Run regedit and navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run (or variants of Run)

and again check for anything strange or out of date

Ran msconfig and noticed this entry:-
Location:- Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

I disabled from startup and on next reboot the error message did not appear.
Any ideas what this is?

I have got exactly the same and stopping at start up stopped the error.

Will this cause any ongoing difficulties using the pc if this removed from start up.
