HDD not showing full Capacity

Hi, I have a Hitachi Deskstar 164 Gb HDD which I use as an external hard drive via a Sandberg USB Hard Disk Link. On my PC the capacity only shows 31.4Gb is there a way to retrieve the full 164Gb. I have Windows 7 Pro Kind Regards

It may be a windows Partition Bug, or your motherboard. Look under Disc Manager for free space or unallocated space. and set it up if you see it

I use XP, if it works same Right Click My Computer/Manage/disc manager

Did what you said Woodchip and it is showing 153.39Gb Active Primary Partition. Can you advise me on that please? Regards

Have you formatted the drive to NTFS?

As woodchip check disk management for the hard drive details for unallocated space.

link to format, remember that a hard drive is always partitioned. It may have only one but still is partitioned. Check is disk management how many partitions are shown.
