hdd failure

hi,after main p-ata hdd disc failed ,replaced with another of 160gb(twice the size of orginal disc)
installed windows xp2 (oem cd), will i have to activate with microsoft

Usually it's things like Motherboards , and strangely Network cards that trigger having to re-activate XP , but if you do , just explain what you have changed and they will generate another code for you to type in . I have always found whoever is on the other end of the phone to be helpful and polite .

Almost certainly it will activate over the net, without having to call MS. Out of many, many I've done, in only a couple of cases, some time ago, have I had to call MS - and then they activated it via the automated voice procedure with no problems at all.

Ive done loads of reinstalls of xp each time i have to activate which i have done after two weeks or so but now i use Linux mint.
