is it true that a laptops hd will always run at the same speed even it is upgraded to a faster hd .
for example a laptop has a 4200rpm hd and you upgrade it to a 5400rpm hd will it still run at 4200rpm.

That is not true.

If you put a faster hard drive in it WILL run at the faster speed.

say you got PC2100 and upgrade to PC3200 DDR then you would notice the difference but it must be compatible.

As far as SDRAM goes then it would only be noticable if you put a larger amount say from 256MB upgraded to 768 or 1000MB
