After formatting my hard disk I'm having problems reinstalling my DVD. At the a: prompt I insert my driver floppy and type cdinst. It all goes fine. At the end it asks for the location of mscdex.exe which I type d: as this is the location set up by ramdrive. It says installation complete everything fine, restart for settings to take effect. This I duly do. When restarted at dos prompt I type D: or E: (as apparently ramdrive can push the drive letter back one) I get invalid drive specification

What am i doing wrong?

Any help gratefully received.

thanks in advance. Blaise.

CD/DVD-ROM drives and rewriters only need the basic Windows driver.

Try booting up and just letting Windows find your new hardware before it installs the driver.

Make sure the drive's leads are connected correctly and firmly.
