Windows 10 Home vs Windows 10 Pro comparison: Here are the extra features you get in the Pro version
Having found I had 113 crawl errors on my site I thought I would tidy things up and do a 301 redirect for the errant pages.
Never done one before but I found some instructions and set about it
I uploaded the .htaccess file to the root folder of the site where the index page resides.
10 minutes later when I tried to go to the site I couldn't reach it and I got the following message.
"Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log."
I deleted the .htaccess file and found I could get to the site ok.
I can only think there was something wrong with my code.
Here is a sample, can you tell me if the spacing is all right, I know the slightest error can cause problems, here are a few lines of code. Should there be a space between "redirect" and 301? or a space between 301 and the oblique?
redirect 301 /antiquefinishes.pdf http://www.edenworkshops.com/images/antiquefinishes.pdf redirect 301 /PaperMarbling.html http://www.edenworkshops.com/PaperMarbling-AFreeManualtoDownload.html redirect 301 /BookBindingCoursesUSA.html http://www.edenworkshops.com/BookbindingCoursesintheUKand_USA.html redirect 301 /RochesterEtherington.html http://www.edenworkshops.com/RochesterMain_Page.html
I really appreciate your taking the trouble to help.
