Have I been Hacked

  Kave 21:32 11 Mar 03

when connected to the internet, with all pages closed and nothing running, according to the "status" monitor, ther are still thousands of bytes being transferred to and from my P.C. When I do try to open a web page it is very ,very slow.
Any Ideas you good people.
Also nearly every time i am trying to surf, the p.c. freezes

More likely to be a program updating in the background.

Pres ctrl - alt - delte and see what is running. Look in the taskbar on the right and see what is running...

If you have antivirus and firewall you'll be ok...

Get an antivirus and a spyware remover and a firewall. If u r on XP you already have 1

Just to remind you that if you are on XP, the built-in firewall only protects you from incoming signals and does not stop programs like Microsoft etc. phoning home (ie,outgoing signals).

It sound like a trojan virus or a directX, You do have a stop button why not use it now and again

It could even be Automatic Updates running in the background.
