Has my monitor gone to the chipshop in the sky?

I've had an intermittent problem with my monitor. When the computer is switched on, the monitor indicator light changed from amber to green hut nothing displayed on the screen.

I've manage to recitfy this several times by reseating the video card and/or tightening all screws. However, this time that does not recifty the problem. I've borrowed a spare monitor from a friend which works fine.

Just before I ditch my original which is about 5 years old, is there anything else I can try to get it to work? I know it is totally not recommended to try to get inside the monitor unless you're a real expert. I suspect that any repair would be uneconomic!

Assuming you were using a CRT Monitor then now would would be the time to get a TFT Monitor. if money is a bit tight then you can pick up a CRT monitor quite cheaply these days

Don't attempt in any way to try and repair the monitor yourself...:-))

New CRT monitors are remarkably cheap these days and even a 17in TFT is just under or over the £100 mark in many cases.
