Is it possible to hardwire via ethernet cable to laptop which works fine with wifi,or do I have to disable wifi first. If so how? and how re enable? Thank you.(I have dell studio with vista)

It should work by just plugging it in, but you should be able to switch of wireless by pressing the FN key plus one of the F keys that has the wireless symbol on it.

Thanks Strawballs, and if I switched wifi back on would it simply work or do I have to input passwords etc? Thanks

Windows retains a "profile" for each of the wireless networks it has connected to so that, in future, it can connect to them automatically. Temporarily disabling WiFi won't affect these settings. When WiFi is enabled again, it should still connect automatically without the need to re-enter the encryption key.
