Hi

This sounds bad - I'm getting it every week or so. I'd like to buy a new machine but I can't afford it - is there anything else I can do, please?

Thanks

Jo

Can you post some details -- machine spec, OS and what the error says

is this a desktop computer?

have you installed any extra ram lately?

Thanks for such quick responses!

The machine is a Dell Dimension XPS T500 desktop with an Intel Pentium III processor, 498MHz, 256Mb RAM. The OS is Windows XP Home edition V2002 with Service Pack 1. I keep it up to date from Microsoft.

I can't remember exactly what the error message is except it's the blue screen of death. When it happens again, I'll write it down.

Huggyg71 - I haven't installed anything recently. This has been happening on and off for a couple of months.

Thanks
Jo

this is the ram your machine supports click here

it uses both non parity and ecc

im no expert on this but it sounds to me like you have ecc installed.

this type of memory i think is mostly used in servers and "checks itself" and reports errors, ordinary ram doesnt do this.

as to what you can do about the errors etc i dont know.im sure somebody can tell you.
