The problem is that I want to copy one hardrive to another. What is the best way to do this ?

you can get stoftware like norton ghost.

or i think you can just plug in both drives. Open the sourse drive, select all (Ctrl A) then Copy (Ctrl C). now go to the destination drive, and press paste(Ctrl V).

this method works for folders and files that i have copied. Not so sure if it'll work with windows but worth a try. (as in not sure if it'll copy the OS over.)

Hi Steve, I use XXCOPY to copy my C:\ drive to my D:\ drive as a regular back-up.
It will copy all system files, registry, programs and data files, in fact, a complete clone.
Go to click here and read all about it.
When downloaded and installed, go to Start/ MSDos Prompt and type:-
XXCOPY C:\ D:\/CLONE
It will take about 2 minutes.
If your C;\ drive goes belly up, just reverse the situation and clone the D;\ drive back to C;\.
Used it for over 12 months and it couldn't be simpler. It is also FREE.

This software may help. Using this "Acronis" product you can create an image of your disk from within windows and create a bootable cd to restore the image to a different hard disk.

Steve, It all depends on what sort of disks you want to copy and the resulting purpose.

If all you want to do is have clone of a data disk then the simple copy, as described above, will suffice.

On the other hand you may want a replica copy of your 'C' drive. This requires more specialised programs - like Drive Image or Norton Ghost etc.
Maybe even Partition Magic.

Perhaps if you state exactly what you want to achieve we can be more helpful.
