Hardriv copying

  cearve 17:14 26 Feb 04

I have a hardrive which is beginning to fail. Is it possible to copy the contents, including the programmes, to another hardrive without the need to reinstall all the software. Would I need to pre-install Windows on the new drive.

What O/S? If it's Win98SE you can use xcopy, or, xxcopy. If it's XP you can use xxclone. xxcopy can be downloaded from click here and xxclone can be downloaded from click here You would need a boot disk to partition and format the new hard disk, get one from click here

If its XP the "File and Settings Transfer wizard" can be used to copy the old to the new.
