Hard drive will not initialise

  swapper 22:38 15 Sep 14

Installed a 160Gb IDE used hard drive.

In Disk Management, besides "C drive" I can see "Disk 1","Unknown", "149.03Gb" and "Not Initialised"

I have right clicked in the left hand box where the drive number is and it shows "initialise" "Properties" and "Help" When I clicked on the "initialise" the cursor looks busy for about a second and that is all

I downloaded Mini Tool Power Data and Mini Tool Partition Wizard, and although I have been able to put 97Gb partition on it I cannot initialise it.

Any ideas please?

Reboot and enter setup / bios

Check drive settings here - It should be set as slave and either LBA or Auto

Note existing drive may need a jumper to allow a slave to be connected
