Hard Drive and settings probs

Upgraded to XP pro yesterday, all went fine, few driver updates and all sorted. Today trying to install a slave drive ( son's discarded 4 gig drive, don't really need it but hate to see it redundant). The drive is not being recognised, jumper settings correct, main problem is I can't get into the CMOS setttings at bootup to check them.
Pressing delete just hangs the system. Has anyone any suggestions?
Thanks
Russ

The BIOS is almost certainly set to 'NONE' on that port so, without getting in to them, no chance.

Anyway, a 4Gb drive is not worth it. People are throwing away 40Gb drives.

'Anyway, a 4Gb drive is not worth it. People are throwing away 40Gb drives'

Well that may be the case but I had intended on using the drive to store backups or MP3s and
4gig would do the job nicely.

Actually managed to get into the BIOS (don't know why it suddenly worked)and set the primary slave to AUTO but still no joy. Anyway its not exactly system critical so I will probably not spend any more time on it.

Thanks for your feedback anyway.
