I am looking for a hard drive .and I am a bit confused with this /uide drives/ and the /udma drives/also will I find the pc quicker with a seven thousand drive,, or a five thousand one,, /are some qicker than others ?

Go for a speed of 7200RPM - after that it does not matter too much. udma 133 is also an advantage.

As Lú-tzé says, go for a 7200rpm drive.

As for the UDMA/ATA speed - all current drives are 100 or 133 - it really doesn't matter which you choose. In any case, the transfer rate will only be as fast as your motherboard allows.

And you must use an 80-wire IDE cable to get anything over 33MHz transfer rate.

A larger on-drive cache can also make a drive faster in prctice.
