Hard Drive running too hot?

  Newuser3605 23:04 01 Jun 04

I have a Maxtor 120Gb hard drive which gives no problems whatsoever.
I just wondered why it felt so hot to the touch after running for a few hours and if this was normal. Many thanks.

do you have the case open if so the cooling can not work efficiently

I would presume your using a SATA hdd, mine also run much hotter than I would prefer so I fitted a case fan+hdd cooler unit. These reduced my system temps to a much more acceptable level. The case fan is mounted to blow air across the top of one hdd and the underside of the other. Before I fitted the case fan,my system temp was often higher than my CPU.
