Hard drive partitions

I bought a 40gig hard drive and due to the motherboard restrictions I had to cap the size of the drive and format to 32gig which up to now has worked fine. I have just fitted another motherboard and removed the capping connector from the hard drive. The problem is that I cannot get at the 8gig unformatted part of the drive. Can anyone please advise me what I need to do to have a fully formatted 40gig drive.

if it is XP or 2K

Control Panel, Administriative Tools, Computer management, Disk manageent andthen you can try to format the rest part as a new partion

Use "partitonmagic" to "resize" the hard-disk back to 40gb
