hard drive not recognised

I am having problems installing a second hard drive (IDE). It shows up under hardware/device manager in Control Panel but not when I open My Computer.All that is shown is the primary drive C:.Any suggestions?I have been into the BIOS and set values manually but stll no joy, even on auto recognition.

Right-click 'My Computer' >> Manage >> Disk Management and your drive will be listed there. Right-click on the unallocated space area and create a partition then right-click again and choose quick format. It will then appear in My Computer and be ready for use.
