Hard drive noise Naseby

On boot up I was treated to a grinding noise then a blue screen stating no disc found so nothing I started again with the system CD and it went but the next normal boot up the same.I left it over night and started and it has all been normal since 3 days should I prepare for a new HD I have backed it all up anyway.Naseby

The answer is, yes prepare for a new disk, but dont replace until you've downloaded the Seagate diagnostic software from their site. This will confirm whether there is a problem, what it is, and then Seagate can replace the drive under warranty (1 year on 40Gb I think).

yeah report the problem to the manufactorer asap,so that you will be covered by the minimum 12 month warrenty,if you dont and it fails say just after the warrenty you wont have a leg to stand on
