I recently cloned a hard drive for my daughter in laws business computer. However the hard drive I copied to was an 80 gig hard drive and on installing the hard drive onto the system to use it, it only showed a 40 gig hard drive on the systems. e.g. disk defragmenter. The computer has windows XP professional installed.
Is there any quick fix to make this hard drive revert to its 80 gig size.
Thanks for any help given.

Sounds like the drive is formatted in FAT32 and not NTFS. I think that converting it to NTFS would mean losing all the data however I stand to be corected.

You can check on the formatting by My Computer- right click and select Properties.

Converting from FAT to NTFS should cause loss of data.

Sorry big typo there. That should be converting FAT to NTFS should NOT cause loss of data. Repeat NOT.

You may have had a partioned drive on the original and it would be worth while using some partion manager software to check.
