Hard Drive filling up fast

With a 160Gb hard drive and about 2Gb(max)of data on it, I now discover that I have less than 68Gb of free space left...anyone got any idea how or why this could happen. the machine is 6 months old, XP home with a Gb oj memory.

System restore and any pre-installed programs such as Norton Ghost or Go-Back can quickly use up HDD space. If all is well, cancel System restore and then restart it to clear loads of useless data.

Similarly, some Windows updates keep big restore files starting with names such as $NtServicePackUninstall$ which can be safely deleted.
